A fiddlin’ postdoc

St. Patrick’s Day is a day when Irish fiddle tunes are enjoyed all around the world — and this year Prot-O’DUNE is part of the show!

At the suggestion of a music-loving colleague, Sheffield University postdoc Nicola McConkey brought her violin to EHN1 — a violin, by the way, that gathers no dust — donned the required clean-room suit and hard hat, and played some fiddle tunes in the unique setting of a ProtoDUNE cryostat.

This leprechaun actually found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow — and stepped in!
